A strong data analyst cover letter should connect the employer's decision problem to your evidence: SQL work, dashboards, stakeholder questions, metric definitions, or insights that changed an action.
For analyst roles, hiring teams want more than Excel, SQL, Tableau, or Python keywords. They want to know whether you can define the right question, clean imperfect data, explain tradeoffs, and turn analysis into a decision.
